Jake Gillespie was born in Phoenix, Arizona. He studied painting at the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University. He has sought out adventure and new material for his creative and aesthetic interests in places such as Japan, Thailand, Australia, Italy, England, and the Czech Republic. He has also briefly established studios in various locations such as New York, NY; Paris, France; Santa Barbara, CA; and even central Pennsylvania. Jake’s work is largely influenced by the experience of natural phenomena and the impact it has on the physical and spiritual self. He currently lives and works in Tucson, Arizona.
